Behind the Seam
I am a dedicated and passionate fashion designer and graduated from Indiana University in 2023 with my Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design. After I graduated university I began working in the beauty industry, where I was able to refine my attention to detail, the art of precision and patience, and client connection skills. The experiences I gained in the beauty industry further enhanced my sense of fit and agility with my hands, two skills that are linked to the best alteration practices.
The knowledge and education I have in fashion started in high school and I have been constantly building on it, even after I received my degree in Fashion Design. I developed this passion for altering and fitting garments because of the number of alteration works I have done for friends and family over the years.
I am able to do various alteration projects such as hemming, installing zippers, adjusting side seams and waistlines, and sleeve fittings. I have also worked with various fabrics for alterations such as leather, satin, and lace.
Hands on, technical work is what I’ve always been interested in. I am currently in school to receive my license to become a massage therapist in the health and wellness industry. This experience while I am back in school has helped me gain further insight into the structure of the body and the way garments lay on and move with the body. The skills that I am gaining in massage therapy helps me create the best fit while completing alterations. I am eager to combine my fashion and massage therapy skills together to help people look and feel beautiful in their custom, altered garments.
